NaNoWriMo

I signed up for NaNoWriMo last year, but never completed it. This year is going to be different. I’m determined to finish (with something hopefully coherent). I’ve already got about 3 pages of outline/ramble about the novel I’m working on this year. It’s only been floating around in my head for a few months, so details are a little sparse. The plot steps are almost non-existent. The characters are still very 1 dimensional, slowly working up to 2D.

I really need to dig into the characters some more. Before November 1st, I’ve got to figure out what drives them. I know my main character’s motivation, but not the rest of the characters. Why are they doing what they’re doing? What drives them?  Why are they affiliated with whatever side they are?

I need to work more on the plot and the progression of the story. Why does each event happen? What does that event lead to? Plot is probably my weakest point. It needs to be both externally and internally driven. External events need to happen that drive the character to progress and grow internally through the story. How do I make that happen?

This blog will be my daily log of how I’ve slowly lost my mind during this process. Get ready for the ride.
